Your voice and your words never leave your Mac. The speech model runs on your own machine. Audio is not uploaded, transcripts are not uploaded, and neither is available to us in any form.
What stays on your Mac
- Recordings, if you have chosen to keep them, and for as long as you have chosen. You can set this to Never.
- Your transcripts and dictation history.
- The words JEXXA has learned from your corrections.
- Your voice profile, used to tell your speech from a passing conversation.
All of it lives in ~/Library/Application Support/LocalFlow on your computer. Deleting the app's data folder deletes all of it. None of it is synced, backed up by us, or readable by us.
What leaves your Mac
Three things, and nothing else.
- Your account. An email address, or an Apple or Google sign-in, held so we can tell whether your subscription is active. That is the only thing the account is for.
- Your subscription check. The app periodically asks whether your subscription is current. The request says who you are and nothing about what you have dictated.
- Payment. Handled by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and never to us; we hold a customer reference and whether the subscription is live.
Diagnostics
If you leave Share anonymous diagnostics on, the app reports events such as "a dictation finished" and "sign-in failed", along with timings and error categories. No transcript text, no audio and no file contents are ever included. You can turn it off in Settings, and the app works exactly the same with it off.
What is never captured
The app deliberately declines to read the text around your cursor in password fields and password managers, and it does not retain audio dictated into them.
Your data, your call
- Delete any dictation from the history at any time.
- Turn off retention so nothing is kept.
- Delete the app's data folder to remove everything at once.
- Email hello@jexxa.org to delete your account and the subscription record attached to it.
Children
JEXXA is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly hold information about them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your Mac, the app will say so before the change takes effect.
